Starfall calendar dollar tree4/10/2024 (Again, anal me has color-coded the folders. They keep the zippered pouch in the chair pocket, along with several pocket folders. Students are responsible for taking care of their own materials. Some use the thick crayons and others use regular crayons. This allows me to differentiate the materials for students. Each student has his/her own zippered pouch that holds crayons in snack size Ziploc bag, 2 pencils, erasers, glue sticks, dry erase marker with eraser, and a small container of Play-doh. Now I have chair pockets that go over the chairs. Some students deliberately broke crayons or poked holes in the erasers and students complained.) (I stopped using community supplies because some students were "beavers" and chewed up all the pencils/bit off erasers and other students didn't want to touch the pencils. I used to have community supplies in caddies on each table. The carpet is strategically placed near the Smartboard and my teaching easel. The colored blocks make it easy to define the space for each student. I have a simple carpet that has rows of colored blocks in the middle and alphabet around the outside. They also use the carpet when working with buddies and during our free-choice center time. The students lay on the carpet when they are reading. We use the carpet during whole group time. You might want a large carpet and a teaching easel (large dry erase board on front and back, storage trays underneath). blue-math, red-reading, green-writing, purple-science/social studies, yellow-fine motor to make it easier for them to put them back. (I am anal and my containers are even color-coded. Picture labels and having the materials on low shelves at kid level in easily-accessible containers helps them to become responsible and independent. You will want to think about where and how you will store the various items and materials. You would be amazed at what you can make given some duct tape, paper, plastic table clothes, different-sized cardboard boxes… I think the K teachers keep the local dollar store in business. There are a lot of items you can make yourself. If there are several K teachers, you can share centers and rotate them on a weekly or monthly basis. If your school doesn’t have the items, if they allocate money to you for setting up your classroom, you can find many of the items at yard sales and sometimes parents of older students are willing to donate items that their child no longer uses. Please don’t get overwhelmed and feel that you have to have everything before you start. Web do you want to connect microsoft to do to google calendar?
